The majority of artists have MySpace pages or web sites, that’s where you start to create your buzz.

You make your first album but you need it mastered, you also need artwork for the cover.

If you want to keep costs low you’ll probably be looking at download-only releases to start with – so you need to get it out there on iTunes and the like.

If you really want to create more of a buzz, you’ll be needing CD duplication so you have enough copies to send out to review sites & radio stations, more copies to send to labels if you want to go down that route. Then you need to research the A&R names and addresses, write your Bio, your Press Release, start stuffing and labelling envelopes and your band mates are in the pub sniggering that you agreed to take on this job in the first place and Google is now your only friend!

So yes, you can do this yourself but it’s not much fun if you’d rather be concentrating on producing some new exciting stuff is it? You’re an artist, chances are you’ll lose the will to live if you have to go find 100 different sites to get you organised enough to get your stuff heard.
